MoU Between Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Canada and AFTRA

Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and AFTRA have signed a memorandum of understand (MoU) to operate jointly on areas of common interest. The MoU was signed on behalf of COL by Doris McEachern, Special Adviser: Finance, Administration and Human Resources while  Professor Josiah Ajiboye, President of AFTRA signed on behalf of AFTRA.

The MoU was created based on the realisation that the two organisations share common interests in the acceleration of quality teaching and learning on continental and global levels. The areas of joint operation covers reciprocal publicity for each other; mutual strengthening of knowledge resources of both organisations; and joint advocacies to governments especially on the need to develop Open and Distance Learning (ODL) policies, capacities and resources including ICT enabling education in the areas of content, connectivity and delivery. Others are cooperating in providing ICT training to governments and key education and development organisations in developing countries to maximise the reach, understanding and engagement of the key players; conducting joint researches, consultancy, advisories, and training; working to strengthen regulatory capacity to support ICTs for ODL and other education initiatives; cooperating in international fora and with regional bodies, among others. The MoU takes immediate effect.
