World Conference of the International Forum of Teacher Regulatory Authorities [IFTRA]

2026 Pretoria, South Africa

AFTRA is host of the 2026 World Conference of the International Forum of Teacher Regulatory Authorities [IFTRA], the global umbrella of the teaching regulatory authorities. The hosting rights were awarded to AFTRA in accordance with the IFTRA tradition which ensures the rotation of hosts across the continents. The last host was Australia, under the auspices of the Australasia Teacher Regulatory Authorities [ATRA]. The 2026 World Conference will take place in South Africa, and the AFTRA member organisations in South Africa [Ministry of Basic Education and South African Council for Educators] are currently chairing a National Planning Committee for the Conference under the guidance of AFTRA. More information about the Conference will be posted in both AFTRA and IFTRA websites: https://www.africateaching-authorities.org and https://www.iftra.org. Equally, in accordance with rotation principle, AFTRA is also the current IFTRA Headquarters, and all enquiries about IFTRA should be directed to the AFTRA Executive Director [Academics], Federal Ministry of Education [Annex], Central Business District, Abuja, Nigeria. 

AFTRA is an intergovernmental organisation comprising the Ministries of Education and National Agencies regulating teaching in all the Member States of the African Union.
