Africa Federation of Teaching Regulatory Authorities (AFTRA), Association for the Development of Education in Africa, and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) have formed a partnership. This followed a special meeting of the three organisations convened by the Minister of Basic Education, South Africa, H.E. Mrs. Angelina Matsie Motshekga, co-founder and leading Minister of AFTRA. The Minister convened the meeting to enable the organisations to synergise and pool resources to better tackle some fundamental educatonal challenges in Africa. The three organisations had high-level representations led by Professor Josiah Ajiboye, President of AFTRA; Albert Nsengiyumva, Executive Secretary of ADEA; and Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills and Special Advisor on Education Policy to the Secretary-General of OECD. The Secretariat of the Partnership is being supported by the Department of Basic Education, South Africa and the African Development Bank, Cote d'Ivoire which is the corporate headquarters of ADEA. The Coordinator of the Partnership currently is Lynn Abi Raad, Policy Analyst of the OECD in France, Paris.
