UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA), a category 1 UNESCO agency has launched an Executive Education and Policy Academy. It did this in partnership with the International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030 (commonly called the Teacher Task Force) and AFTRA. The the launch was during the AFTRA Conference hosted by Namibia, May 9-12, 2023. Half of the third day of the Conference was devoted to the training of all conferees on the subject matter of the Academy. The Academy is a range of specially designed courses for top-level officials of the Ministries of Education, national agencies, development partners and civil society organisations to facilitate their understanding of the crises in teaching, learning and management of education, including issues around girl-child education and education management information system (EMIS). The expected outcome of the Academy is to have critical officials who can effectively and efficiently plan, implement, manage, monitor, and review key policies in teaching and learning in Africa. All conferees who took part in the maiden course were given opportunity to continue on a research in chosen area, to be supported by IICIBA. All candidates who successfully submit a project report will earn a certificate from the Academy.
