IFTRA 2024 WORLD CONFERENCE HOLDS, AFTRA EMERGES AS IFTRA HEADQUARTERS AND 2026 CONFERENCE HOST

The World Conference of the International Forum of Teacher Regulatory Authorities [IFTRA] held in Brisbane, Australia, June 17-19, 2024. The Conference, which is biennial [hosts every two years], was hosted by the Australasia Teacher Regulatory Authorities [ATRA]. Delegates attended from across the world. Africa was represented by delegates from Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Botswana and other countries. Two key outcomes of the Conference were the resolution to award AFTRA the rights to host the IFTRA 2026 Conference and also to move IFTRA Headquarters to AFTRA. These two resolutions are in accordance with the IFTRA tradition which ensures that the hosting of the World Conference and Headquarters rotate to all the continents. AFTRA has revealed that the IFTRA 2026 Conference will take place in South Africa. Therefore, the AFTRA member organisations in South Africa [Ministry of Basic Education and South African Council for Educations] are already setting up a National Planning Committee under the guidance of AFTRA to ensure the success of the 2026 World Conference. More details about the Conference will be released through the websites of AFTRA and IFTRA: https://www.africateaching-authorities.org and https://www.iftra.org. All enquiries about IFTRA and the 2026 Conference should be directed to the AFTRA Executive Director [Academics], Professor Steve Nwokeocha at the AFTRA & IFTRA Headquarters, Federal Ministry of Education [Annex], Central Business District, Abuja, Nigeria.
