Ministers of Education in Africa held their Annual AFTRA Ministerial Session in Windhoek, Namibia on May 9, 2023. The Session takes place every year on the first day of the AFTRA Conference to enable the Ministers appraise critical issues concerning teaching and learning in Africa and to come up with the appropriate policy directions. During the Ministerial Session, the Ministers normally receive technical briefs from key international agencies involved in teacher development and professionalism within and outside Africa. In 2023, the following authorities presented technical briefs to the Ministers: (1) Head of the International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030, Paris, France; (2) Head of Education Division, African Union Commission, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; (3) Director, UNESCO-International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; (4) Regional Director, Education International Africa Region, Accra, Ghana; and (5) Executive Director (Academics), AFTRA.
